Dominican players reel in the years

Time waits for no one -- including Rockies shortstop -- in probe

TUCSON -- Colorado Rockies shortstop Juan Uribe got older in a hurry in the off-season.
Uribe, whose birthdate has been listed as July 22, 1980, was actually born in 1979. That makes him 22, not 21.

The discrepancy was discovered as a part of the tightening of security surrounding the issuance of visas to Dominican players. ....
....A big surprise reportedly is awaiting Cleveland. Word out of the Dominican is that right-hander Bartolo Colon is 30, four years older than had been believed.

Yikes! Hope that this is not true! We just lost what we thought were 4 prime years. What does this say about his development if he is 30. A lot of things were excused because of his alledged youth. Hmmmm..

Clearly Bart was victimized by the system.

If his attorneys were smart, they would sue the Indians and re-negotiate his last contract.

Bart should have made more on his last contract since he was actually in his prime years rather than before his prime.

Alex, if Bart's attorney's were smart they'd just all keep quite. We were all banking on Bart NOT yet hitting his prime thus getting even better. Now, that might not be the case. If he really is 30 come contract time, I think he's looking at an offer of less money than if he was 26.
